Bruges by boat

The city from a different angle

Bruges is often referred to as the Venice of the North because of the many canals with arch bridges. Natural and artificial streams collide with one another and over centuries they have been straightened, narrowed, moved, arched over or even closed.

The canals offer the most scenic views of the city and a boat trip among swans is obligatory. Every day you can embark between 10 am and 5 pm at one of the five quays for a 30 minutes tour. During winter – from November ‘til February – the boats only sail during weekends, school holiday and public holidays.
